There is also a Qualcomm Snapdragon branding.According to Digit, this handset is not a final unit but a prototype for Qualcomm’s first mmWave 5G reference design that serves the basic purpose of testing and optimizing the 5G mmWave performance.
Last week, during the 2017 Qualcomm 4G/5G Summit, the company announced that with Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem, the company was successfully able to achieve a 5G data connection on a 5G modem chipset for mobile devices.
At the same event, Qualcomm launched a new line of mid-range mobile processors starting with Snapdragon 636. The processor makes use of the Qualcomm Kryo 260 CPU, which is claimed to bring at least 40% increase in the performance of the device as compared to the Snapdragon 630. Until now, the Kryo 260 CPU was used in higher Snapdragon chipsets such as the Snapdragon 660.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 has eight Kryo 260 cores and supports X12 LTE. This means it can support up to 600Mbps down speed and 150Mbps up speed. Made using 14nm FinFet process, the chipset can support up to 24MP cameras along with zooming and auto-focusing capabilities. It can also take care of FHD+ 18:9 aspect ratio displays and up to 8GB LPDDR4 RAM. Quick Charge 4.0 tech is also supported.
